Mr. Furuya has never been a household name in Kenpo mainly becaused of his distaste for Kenpo's political aspects and his lack of desire to be in the limelight. However, he is well known within the upper echelon of Mr. Parker's American Kenpo. He is particularly proficient at executing the techniques correctly while maintaining full speed and power, and is expecially known for his ability to analyze. Even though the time frame for the original publication was the 1970's and early 80's, it is needed more today than ever. It has not been available for at least the last twenty years, so most black belts in Kenpo are unaware that it even exists. I felt it was time to reintroduce the Kenpo practitioners to it's wealth of information. Starting with the original cover. the second edition has been kept as close to the original as possible. Fornmatting the original to the computer has been real challenge for a non-computer person like me. I hope I have done justice to Mr Furuya's work. Enjoy, Norm Rolando |
